About Lewes Town
Lewes Town is an independent travel guide to a curious coincidence: two towns, one name, on opposite sides of the Atlantic — Lewes in East Sussex, England, and Lewes in Delaware, USA. We help you decide where to stay in each, using verified practical detail and honest synthesis of what past guests report.
Who we are, and independence
We are an independent publisher. Lewes Town is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or the official website of either town's council or tourist board, nor of lewestown.co.uk. We don't represent hotels or attractions; we're a guide, not a booking company or an official body. Where we're unsure of something, we say so or leave it out.
How we verify logistics
The practical facts on these pages — ferry crossing times, Bonfire Night road closures and train cut-offs, park entry fees, opening days, walking distances — are checked against primary sources: the operator's own timetables, the relevant council or park-authority pages, and official notices. Every guide carries a dated "How we verified this" note listing those sources, and a visible "Last verified" stamp. Time-sensitive pages (event schedules, seasonal timetables) are re-checked on a recurring cadence, because a stale schedule is worse than no schedule. Anything we can't verify against a primary source, we omit rather than guess.
How we synthesise guest reviews
Where a page reports what visitors experience — noise, walkability, whether a "beach" stay is really near the sand — that is synthesis, not reproduction. We read guest reviews and traveller discussions across major platforms and report the pattern and the conclusion that no single review states, disclosed with the date of analysis. We do not copy or closely paraphrase review text, and we do not claim first-hand visits we haven't made. When a section is drawn from review analysis, it says so plainly.
How we make money, and how we disclose it
Lewes Town is affiliate-supported. Some accommodation links and the "where to stay" maps are provided by partners (including Stay22); if you book through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never changes which places we describe or how we describe them — the editorial guidance is independent of whether a booking earns us anything. Every page carries an affiliate disclosure by the map and in the footer, in line with FTC (US) and ASA/CAP (UK) guidance.
Separately, local businesses can pay to appear in our directory listings. Paid listings are always labelled as partner content and kept clearly separate from our editorial guides — a paid listing never influences a "where to stay" recommendation.
Corrections
If a fact here is out of date or wrong, please tell us at hello@lewestown.com and we'll correct it. Accuracy is the whole point of this site; we'd rather fix it than defend it.
Heritage note
This domain has a long history as a Lewes, Delaware heritage and education resource. We keep that thread alive in our historic Lewes, Delaware coverage, out of respect for what came before and because the history is genuinely worth telling.
